Spiced Coffee


Cafe de Olla

  • 1/2 cup coffee
  • 1 tablespoons freshly ground Mexican cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup Mexican brown loaf sugar, finely chopped
  • 6 cups water
  • 8 thin strips orange zest

Place coffee and cinnamon in the coffee maker. Place the sugar in the empty pot of coffee maker. Brew the coffee. When brewing is complete, stir until well mixed. Place strip of orange peel in each filled mug of hot coffee. If you don't find Mexican brown loaf sugarĀ  you can substitute 1/2 cup packed dark brown sugar for the Mexican brown loaf sugar.

Sugar & Spice Coffee

  • 1 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 1 cup hot freshly brewed Italian Espresso Roast Coffee
  • 1 cinnamon stick

Add brown sugar to coffee. Stir with cinnamon stick.

Mexican Coffee

  • 2/3 cup coffee
  • 1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 6 cups cold water

Place sugar and cinnamon sticks in the empty pot of coffee maker. Brew the coffee. When brewing is complete, stir until well blended. Pour evenly into 6 coffee cups or mugs to serve. If you like you can serve it with milk and additional sugar.

Cinnamon Spiced Coffee

  • 2/3 cup ground coffee
  • 1 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 6 cups cold water

Place coffee in the coffee maker and sprinkle with cinnamon. Place sugar in the empty pot of coffee maker. Brew the coffee. When brewing is complete, stir until well blended.
Serve with milk and additional sugar, if desired. You can substitute firmly packed brown sugar for the granulated sugar.

Spiced Holiday Coffee

  • 1/3 cup ground coffee
  • 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoons ground cloves
  • 1/4 cup orange marmalade
  • 3 cups cold water

Place coffee, cinnamon and cloves in the coffee maker. Place marmalade in the empty pot of coffee maker. Brew the coffee. When brewing is complete, stir until well blended. Serve with sugar and cinnamon sticks.

Cinnamon Caramel Coffee

Add the cinnamon before brewing to give this recipe spicy touch. You'll need to stir well to blend in the caramel syrup.

  • 6 tablespoons ground coffee
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup caramel dessert syrup

Mix the cinnamon into your loose ground coffee and then brew a pot of coffee by whatever method you prefer. Add the caramel syrup to the cinnamon-spiced coffee, and stir well until completely dissolved. Chill through in the fridge, and serve over ice cubes, with added milk or sugar to taste. The syrup makes this iced coffee pretty sweet as it is.

Arabian Coffee

A mix of ground coffee and spices that you make up before brewing. You'll fill your home with a wonderful scent as your coffee brews with all this vanilla, cinnamon and cloves.

  • 4 tablespoons ground coffee (fine)
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated orange peel, dried
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 inch piece of vanilla bean
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves

Blend ingredients well. Brew by your usual method. Serves 4.

Austrian Spiced Coffee

  • 4 tablespoons of freshly ground coffee
  • 4 strips of lemon peel
  • 4 strips of orange peel
  • 20 whole cloves
  • 1 quart cold water
  • 8 teaspoons of brown sugar

Place lemon peels, orange peels, and cloves in bottom of coffee filter. Put coffee grounds on top and then brew coffee. Sweeten with 2 teaspoons of brown sugar or adjust to taste. Serves 4.

Cafe Caribe

A mix of ground coffee and spices that you make up before brewing. You'll fill your home with a wonderful scent as your coffee brews with all this vanilla, cinnamon and cloves.

  • 4 tablespoons ground coffee (fine)

White Spiced Coffee

  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup whole organic coffee beans, lightly cracked
  • 1 1/2 sticks cinnamon sticks
  • 4 wholes green cardamom pods
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons dark rum, optional

Place the milk and crushed coffee beans in a saucepan. Heat the mixture to a simmer over medium-high heat, about 7 minutes. Immediately remove from the heat and let the beans steep in the milk for 15 minutes. Strain the coffee mixture and transfer to the jar of a blender. Discard the crushed coffee beans. Add the cinnamon sticks, cardamom, and honey to the steeped milk and blend on high speed until the spices are coarsely ground, about 30 seconds. Strain the liquid back into the saucepan and discard the ground spices. Rewarm the spiced coffee over medium-high heat until the liquid is hot and steaming. Add rum, if desired. Pour into warmed coffee mugs, and serve hot.

Coffee Grog

A rich, spicy, sweet coffee delight.

  • 3 cups coffee
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • peel of 1 orange
  • peel of 1 lemon

Break fruit peels into 6 pieces, each. Place one piece of each into cups. Blend butter, sugar, cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon in a small bowl. Mix coffee and cream together with the spice mixture. Serve into 6 cups.

Mediterranean Coffee

This quick recipe has all the ingredients coming together before you actually brew your coffee. How convenient. The anise and orange add a noticeable tropical flavour to your coffee.

  • 3 tablespoons coarse ground coffee
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon anise seed
  • pinch of dried orange peel

Combine ingredients and brew by your favorite method. Using a french press is traditional for this coffee recipe.

Mexican Coffee

Mixing your spices before you brew can add flavour so easily. This is a particularly sweet way to serve up a cup of coffee, with generous amounts of chocolate and brown sugar.

  • 125ml ground coffee
  • 80ml chocolate syrup
  • 1 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 250ml milk
  • 60ml brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Before brewing, combine coffee, cinnamon and nutmeg. Brew however you like. In another small saucepan, heat brown sugar, syrup and milk. Stir until sugar is melted and dissolved. Pour sugar mixture into hot coffee, and add vanilla.

Mexican Coffee

  • 1 1/2 cups double strength hot gourmet coffee
    (use 4 tablespoons coffee to 12 oz. of water)
  • 3/4 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 4 teaspoons chocolate syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 table spoon sugar

Combine cream, nutmeg, sugar and cinnamon then whip. Using four cups, put 1 teaspoon of chocolate syrup in each. Stir the remaining 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon into the the hot gourmet coffee. Pour the coffee in the cups and stir. Top with spiced whipped cream. Serves 4.

Cafe con Miel

Honey has a wonderful flavour, as well as adding some natural sweetness to your cup of coffee. It doesn't take much to change the whole feeling of your cup.

  • 2 cups hot coffee
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 4 tablespoons honey
  • 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon

Heat everything until warm, but not boiling. Stir well to dissolve the honey, and serve. Serves 3-4.

Cafe de Olla

A sweet coffee drink, made with chocolate and cloves. Preparation is a bit unusual. You steep the coffee grounds with the other ingredients instead of traditional brewing.

  • 8 cups water
  • 4 oz. ground coffee
  • 4 oz. brown sugar
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 3 cloves, whole
  • 1 square of semi-sweet chocolate

Boil water in a saucepan, then add cinnamon, cloves, sugar and chocolate. When the mixture comes to a boil, skim off foam. Reduce the heat to a simmer, then add coffee. Steep for 5 minutes then serve.
